Church & Place of Worship WiFi
Internet built for churches, cathedrals and community halls
Churches present some of the most challenging connectivity environments in the UK. Thick stone walls, high vaulted ceilings, large open spaces and rural locations all work against a standard broadband connection. Add the growing demand for live streaming Sunday services, hybrid worship, Sunday school tablets, contactless donation points and community hire, and the need for a proper managed solution becomes clear.
Click Telecom specialises in exactly these environments. We use bonded 5G and 4G LTE connections that require no phone line and no digging, combined with professional mesh WiFi systems that push a strong signal through stone walls and into every corner of the building. Whether you are a small village church, a busy city cathedral or a community hall that hosts dozens of groups each week, we have a solution that fits.
- No phone line or fixed infrastructure required
- Bonded 5G/LTE for rural and hard-to-reach locations
- Mesh WiFi to penetrate thick stone walls and large spaces
- Upload speed optimised for live streaming and webcasting
- Separate networks for staff, congregation and community hire
- GDPR-compliant visitor WiFi with branded captive portal
Common Challenges
Why standard broadband fails in churches
Churches are not like offices. The buildings, the locations and the way they are used all create connectivity challenges that a standard broadband package cannot solve.
Thick stone walls block signal
Medieval and Victorian church buildings are built from thick stone that absorbs and reflects WiFi signals. A single router placed at the front of the building will not reach the back pews, the vestry, the hall or the car park.
Rural location, poor fixed line
Many churches are in rural villages far from the telephone exchange. ADSL speeds can be as low as 2Mbps, which is completely inadequate for live streaming. Our bonded 5G/LTE solution bypasses the phone line entirely.
Live streaming demands upload speed
Streaming a Sunday service to YouTube or Facebook Live requires consistent upload speed, not just download. Most standard broadband connections are heavily asymmetric, causing buffering, dropped streams and poor video quality.
Multiple competing uses on one connection
A modern church building hosts Sunday services, admin staff, community groups, coffee mornings, scouts, toddler groups and private hire. All of these users compete for the same connection, causing slowdowns at the worst possible times.
Contactless payments and card readers
Contactless donation points, card readers at events and online giving kiosks all need a reliable internet connection. A dropped connection during a collection or a fundraising event is both embarrassing and costly.
No GDPR-compliant visitor WiFi
Offering open WiFi to community groups and hirers without a proper captive portal creates GDPR and safeguarding risks. A managed solution includes a branded login page, terms acceptance and usage logging.
Who We Connect
Church WiFi for every type of place of worship
Live Streaming & Hybrid Services
Stream your Sunday service to YouTube, Facebook Live or your own website in full HD. Our upload-optimised connections ensure smooth, uninterrupted broadcasts to your remote congregation. Supports simultaneous streaming, on-screen presentation slides and Zoom participation for hybrid worship.
Community Hall & Hire Income
WiFi is now a standard expectation for any group hiring your hall. Coffee mornings, scouts, toddler groups, fitness classes and private events all expect a working connection. A reliable, GDPR-compliant visitor network protects your hire income and your safeguarding obligations.
Sunday School & Youth Groups
Interactive tablets, Bible apps and online resources for children and young people. A dedicated VLAN keeps young users separate from the main network.
Cathedrals & Heritage Buildings
Large spaces, listed building constraints and high visitor footfall. Our mesh systems are installed without drilling or cable runs, preserving the fabric of the building.
Contactless Giving & Card Payments
Contactless donation points, card readers and online giving kiosks all need a reliable connection. Never lose a donation to a dropped connection again.
Church Office & Admin
Fast, reliable internet for the church office, safeguarding records, email, accounting software and video calls with diocese or denominational leadership.
Concerts, Fairs & Fundraising Events
Outdoor summer fairs, Christmas markets, concerts and fundraising events. Temporary or permanent solutions available, with our event WiFi team on hand for larger gatherings.
Village Halls & Rural Communities
Many village halls are managed by the local church. Our rural bonded 5G/LTE solutions bring fast internet to communities that fixed-line providers have left behind.
Our Solutions
The right technology for your church
Every church is different. We assess your building, your location and your usage before recommending a solution. All options are fully managed with UK-based support.
Bonded 5G/LTE
Our most popular church solution. A pre-configured router bonds multiple 5G and 4G LTE connections together, delivering fast, resilient internet with no phone line and no digging. Ideal for rural churches and buildings where fixed-line broadband is slow or unavailable.
Ideal for: Rural churches, village halls, buildings without a phone line
Dedicated Leased Line
Where a fixed-line connection is available, a dedicated leased line provides symmetrical upload and download speeds with a guaranteed SLA. The best option for cathedrals and larger churches with high streaming and multi-user demands.
Ideal for: City centre cathedrals, large congregations, high streaming demand
Hybrid: Fixed + Bonded Cellular
Combines a fixed-line connection with bonded cellular backup. If the fixed line fails during a live service, the cellular connection takes over automatically with no interruption. The most resilient option for churches that cannot afford any downtime.
Ideal for: Churches with live streaming, high-profile services, cathedrals
Professional mesh WiFi for stone buildings
All our church installations include a professional mesh WiFi system designed to penetrate thick stone walls and fill large open spaces. Multiple access points are placed throughout the building, creating a seamless single network that covers the nave, side aisles, vestry, hall and car park. No dead zones. No cables trailing across the floor.

Common questions
Church internet FAQ
Do you need a phone line to get internet in a church?
No. Our bonded 5G/LTE solution uses multiple mobile data connections bonded together, with no phone line or fixed infrastructure required. This makes it ideal for older church buildings, rural locations, and listed buildings where digging or cabling is not possible.
Can church internet support live streaming?
Yes. Live streaming requires a reliable upload connection, not just download speed. Our dedicated church internet solutions provide symmetrical or upload-prioritised connections, ensuring your Sunday service streams to YouTube, Facebook or your church website without buffering or dropouts.
How do you get WiFi signal through thick stone walls?
We install professional mesh WiFi access points throughout the building. Mesh systems use multiple nodes that communicate with each other wirelessly, eliminating dead zones caused by thick stone, brick or Victorian plasterwork. Each access point is carefully positioned during a site survey to ensure full coverage.
Can the WiFi cover the church hall and car park as well as the main building?
Yes. Our mesh WiFi systems are designed to cover entire sites, including church halls, vestries, offices, car parks and outdoor areas. We carry out a site survey before installation to map coverage requirements and position access points accordingly.
Can different groups use separate WiFi networks?
Yes. We configure VLAN segmentation so that staff, congregation, community hire groups, Sunday school and payment terminals all operate on separate networks. This protects your admin systems and ensures community hirers cannot access internal church data.
Is it legal to offer free WiFi to community groups and hirers?
Yes, but you have obligations under GDPR and the Investigatory Powers Act. You must log connection data and be able to identify who used your network. A captive portal (branded login page) handles this automatically, collecting name and email before granting access and storing records compliantly.
What happens if the internet goes down during a service?
Our hybrid solutions combine a primary connection with a bonded 5G/LTE failover. If the primary line drops, the failover activates automatically within seconds, keeping your live stream, card payments and delegate apps online without any manual intervention.
Can you install internet in a rural church with no fibre nearby?
Yes. Bonded 5G/LTE works wherever there is mobile signal, and we can bond connections from multiple networks simultaneously to maximise speed and resilience. For very remote locations with no mobile signal, we can also deploy LEO satellite connectivity.
How long does installation take?
A standard bonded 5G/LTE installation can be completed within 48 hours of order. Leased line installations typically take 30 to 90 days depending on location. Mesh WiFi installation is usually completed in a single day once the internet connection is live.
Do you offer ongoing support after installation?
Yes. All our church internet solutions include proactive monitoring and UK-based support. We monitor your connection 24/7 and can often identify and resolve issues before you are even aware of them. You also have access to our emergency support line for urgent issues.
